If there is one model that crosses the decades without taking a wrinkle, it’s the long dress!
It is beneficial for the most discreet among us, adapts to all occasions and is so feminine. It is also the most popular dress to get married regardless of the model chosen.
However, it is easy to make mistakes as there are so many proscribed models, which is why reading the following article is strongly recommended if you want to wear the long and bodycon dresses with style!
1) Choosing the right long dress
According to its silhouette
The plump or slender women, large or small, many or few breasts can wear the robe.
On the other hand, we will not hide our face, the long cup the silhouette so if you are less than 1.60 m we cannot really say that you will be able to count on it to give an impression of grandeur.
It is therefore advisable to wear women’s maxi dresses with heels. Avoid stiletto heels and opt for 5-7cm block heels or wedges. On the other hand, bet on a monochrome dress that will lengthen more than a two-tone, for example.
If you opt for patterns know that large patterns will add volume to your body, unlike small ones. Similarly, if your dress has horizontal stripes, these have a magnifying power unlike verticals which will lengthen and therefore refine the silhouette.
Be careful with prints, most of them age badly over the years and are difficult to wear. If you want to be sure you don’t go wrong stick with classics like stripes or tropical flowers.
The ideal length
The ideal length? It is the dress which arrives just at the level of the bone of the foot (external malleolus). Be careful with the dresses that touch the ground, it is very beautiful on the catwalks but in practice you will end up with a frayed or dirty bottom and with high risk of falling.
The midi-length dress that reveals the ankles is also very pretty, but don’t forget that it is a model that hugs the silhouette and if you are rather petite it is better to choose it just below the knee.
The cup
Regarding the cut to adopt to wear women’s maxi dresses, it should be fluid (especially not tight) with an empire shape, straight cut or fitted. Be careful, not tight does not mean that you cannot wear it close to the body, it is quite possible as long as it delicately emphasizes your curves.
You can choose it slit on the side, this will bring it even more fluidity and an airy and ultra-feminine side.
Cotton or silk are materials that are suited to this specific cut of dress. Jersey can also give it a nice amplitude to the long dress. If you fear the heat, try to stay on natural materials.
You will often find synthetic and/or artificial materials such as polyester or viscose. The quality materials are more and more difficult to find, if you set your sights on a dress of these textures, make sure that the cut is irreproachable.
